Pubs in the village, Cannock Chase fifteen minutes away, and a fishing pond on the farm itself. Here's what's on the doorstep.
Quiet, well-connected, and surrounded by the kind of countryside most people picture when they say "let's get away for a weekend." Here's the local detail, by what you might want to do.
Blithbury isn't large, but it punches above its weight for a pint and a plate. The Bull is the village pub, three minutes' walk from the Farmhouse gate, a Sunday roast that needs booking, and a fire that runs from October to April.
Beyond the village there's a handful of really good gastropubs and a couple of country restaurants worth the short drive. Reservations are wise on weekends.
The farm sits on the northern edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cannock Chase Forest is a 15-minute drive, 26 square miles of heathland and woodland with marked walking and cycling trails for every level. Bring boots, leave them on.
Closer to home, there's a five-mile circular walk straight from the farm gate, taking in the canal towpath and the Blithfield Reservoir bird hide. Maps are at every property.
There's plenty within an hour's drive, proper National Trust manor houses, a small medieval cathedral, a steam railway and one of the country's better zoos. Good rainy-day insurance and good sunny-day plans both.
There's a small course fishing pond on the farm itself, free to use for guests, no permit needed, rods can be borrowed from the Farmhouse. For the more serious angler, Blithfield Reservoir is one of the Midlands' best trout fisheries and a 10-minute drive away.
