The land has been in the family three generations. The buildings, Farmhouse, Cottage, Den and Lodge, were restored one at a time over the better part of a decade. Nothing rushed, nothing showy. Just steady work, real materials, and the kind of finish that holds up after a hundred Sunday roasts.
Sheep in the field, hens in the yard, lambing in spring, the working side of the farm hasn't gone anywhere. Most guests like it that way. Children point at the lambs, dogs are tolerated by the collies, and on a still evening you'll hear nothing but birdsong and the occasional bleat.
The four guest buildings sit around the working yard but each has its own private space, garden, or terrace, so you're part of the farm without ever being in the way of it.
Each building was restored room by room. The Farmhouse kept its original Georgian sash windows and oak floorboards; the Cottage gained underfloor heating without losing its open hearth; the Den's hayloft kept its rafters and gained a copper bath; the Lodge is the newest of the four, timber-clad, Scandi-quiet, built two years ago at the edge of the woodland.
Where we could keep what was there, we kept it. Where we couldn't, we replaced it carefully with materials that would still look right in fifty years.
You book direct, you deal with real people. Same-day replies during daylight hours, a meet-and-greet on arrival if you want one, and a number you can actually ring during your stay.
The price you see is what you pay. No cleaning fees buried at checkout, no resort levies, no extras for the hot tub. Logs are included.
A loaf, butter, eggs from the hens and milk on arrival, included in every stay. Bigger welcome hampers and breakfast baskets are available if you'd like one.
